2 months

Dear Gideon,

June 20, 2018
Happy 2 months!

You started smiling this month which has been the best gift to us. Dad has caught some of your smiles on camera. You are especially happy right after you are fed and changed. You have started smiling really big at Dad when you see him. You gave him big smiles after not having seen him for a week because Dad went to a conference in Utah. Dad was really excited to see you.

You got sick a few times the past month you had a cold and have had low grade fevers. The doctor said there wasn’t anything to worry about, so I guess that means you are healthy.

You have been growing really well and are almost into 6 month clothes. You are really tall for your age (95th percentile) but you are not super chubby (51st percentile) so your clothes are getting short on you.

You eat well. You have started going a four or five hour stretch at night between feedings, but you have to eat every two hours during the day without fail. Your naps have gotten short and you are figuring out a schedule to settle into, but for a majority of the month you have slept very well. When you do eat you eat very quickly and efficiently. No more than 20 minutes, but mostly between 10 and 15 minutes. In the past I have taken afternoon naps with you in our bed everyday. I love snuggling next to you. But lately you haven't napped well so I will probably stop napping with you. You sleep at night in the bassinet and take some naps in a swing that we have.

You have gone to a lot of places with Juliet and me. We go to the store every week, we have gone to the lake a few times, we have played at the park, gone to play at a nursing home, and we have gone for many walks. We wanted to take you camping but dad has been busy with work and the weather has been very rainy and a little too cold to take you out at night.

Mostly you are a happy baby and we really love having you around. Juliet especially has been so eager to help you with anything you might need (from diaper changes to hugs to carrying you in your car seat). She is a huge helper. She had gotten better with not being so rough with you. You give her big smiles now and enjoy looking at her play. I believe you will be the best of friends with her. She is excited for you to be able to do more things with her. She has tried showing you her favorite owl videos on YouTube and tried many times to give you her favorite snacks (fruit snacks, cheese crackers, fruit, etc.) She tries to dress you when I go out of the room to throw your diaper away. She desperately wants to learn how to put on your socks because she thinks that is the most fun article of clothing.

We really love having you around. You make our lives happier and better by being in them. It feels like time has been flying since you became part of our family, but it feels so right. In a way, it feels like you have always been a part of our family. You have such a sweet spirit and I can tell you were meant to be ours.

Love,

Mom
