I came home partway through the work day to check on Mom (she'd been feeling poorly when I left in the morning). You were sad that I had to go to work again, and you asked me to stay. You also didn't want to nap. But I asked you if you would nap so that you could feel good enough to play with me when I got back home. You agreed to nap (though I left before you fell asleep, so I don't know if it lasted).
When I got home again I asked you if you wanted to run an errand with me. We went to Papa Murphy's to get some pizza for dinner. On the way, we talked about things you saw out the window--mostly cars. You saw some candy too, or something that reminded you of candy. You started singing "I love candy, she loves me. I love soccer ball . . . [more things you love] . . . We are a happy family!"

I got up at 6 to get ready for work. You got up around 6:10 and you stayed with me while I got ready. You helped me make my lunch (rice, tuna, and mayo) and you had breakfast with me (oatmeal for me, panettone for you).

As I write this you are laying next to me in my bed. It's almost 8am but you're tired because you were up a lot last night. We're listening to some acoustic Christmas music to help you relax. We had Christmas at our own home this year. Last year was the first year since Juliet was born that we spent Christmas at home instead of travelling to be with my parents or Mom's parents. You and Juliet got some Paw Patrol stuffed animals in your stockings, and those are your favorite new toys.
We got a Little Tikes basketball hoop, and you've enjoyed that. You like watching basketball with me, and you always ask what the teams are called and what the players' (and coaches' and referee's) names are. Your favorite team is "the blue team" whoever that happens to be.
You're a pretty big tease. You like taking Juliet's toys from her and running away and hiding them before she catches up to you.
A couple weeks ago we delivered Christmas cookies to some friends. We did a run through Iowa City with Mom and your sisters, but then they stayed at home so Rosie could go to bed and you and I went to Coralville and North Liberty. It was pretty cold and had started to snow. At each stop I asked you if you wanted to stay in the car while I dropped off the plate or if you wanted to get out with me, and you always said "I want to help you."
