7 months

Dear Gideon,

Happy 7 months! You are sitting up very well and even starting to try to crawl. You started by rocking back and forth on your knees and have even crawled backwards a little bit. You have gone down to two naps a day pretty consistently, although if the first nap is short then you usually take a cat nap while we are out and about on our outing for the day. Outings usually include the grocery store, the mall, library for story time, and Oaknoll (local nursing home). The place you seem to like the best is the grocery store, although you are pretty happy no matter where we go. You have liked getting out of your car seat and sitting in the cart at the grocery stores, so that is something that has changed.

It has gotten colder outside, which means that I dress you in shoes and coats, and a hat always. You usually pull off your hat and throw it out of your car seat. Luckily I have been able to keep track of it.

Daylight Savings happened this month and it was especially hard on you. You were used to waking up very early and going to take your first nap soon after, so it was a surprise to you when I made you try to stay up a little longer to get to the new time change. Some days you just would fall asleep on top of me because you were so tired. You didn't even do that when you were a newborn. You have always fallen asleep in the car seat or in your bed. It was nice to get some snuggles, but I knew it was hard on you. You have finally gotten used to it though.

You have two new teeth this month. They broke through on the bottom and I am happy that you have stopped waking up so frequently at night because of it. They were really hurting you for weeks.

We went on vacation to see your cousins in Boston and you absolutely loved meeting everyone. You were such a happy baby during the day and let everyone hold you many times and loved all of the attention. At night, you were usually screaming for hours. We didn't understand why you were doing that but it was probably because we were in a new place, you were teething, and you were processing all of the new faces and things we were doing. You did really well on the airplanes and at the airport. We got delayed coming home for 10 hours and ended up getting back at midnight instead of 2 pm. That last flight was hard for you, but you were a trooper. Since coming home you have started sleeping better.

You still love the bath and I have been bathing you more frequently because you have had some major blow outs in the past month, but you love taking a bath. You are very ticklish and always love to be tickled and given attention in that way. You have recently started to want to be carried more to be involved in everything more.

Solid foods that you like are rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, whole wheat cereal, and carrots. You tolerate green beans, mango, and sweet potato. You really don't like bananas.

You had your 6 month appointment this month and you did so well. We got really backed up and were waiting on the doctor and shots and the whole process for 2 and a half hours. I was really done and frustrated by the end, but you were just happy as can be until the end with the shots. You constantly teach me to have a better attitude about life.

You wear size 4 diapers and are in 12 month clothes. I don't have very many 12 month clothes for you but I know that your grandparents Williams are going to be giving you quite a few clothes for Christmas, so we just have to wait it out a couple of weeks squeezing you in to your 9 month clothes and the few 12 month clothes I have.

We all can't believe that time is going by so fast. I feel like I have blinked and you are older than half a year. I'll probably blink again and it will be your first birthday! We are excited to celebrate Christmas with you this month and see you experience everything for the first time.

Love,

Mom
